Sweet Spirit of Peace with Come, Holy Spirit, Still My Heart

If you have been reading, you have probably picked up on the fight for peace that sometimes rages on. It is a fight worth fighting and a war already won. More on that later . . .

But for now- I found this hymn that I don’t recall singing before, but wow, beautiful words. I added a few extra lines, a simple prayer: Sweet Spirit of Peace, still my heart.

Come, Holy Spirit, still my heart

With gentleness divine

Indwelling peace you can impart

O make that blessing mine

Give me a heart of calm repose

Amid the world’s loud roar

A life that like a river flows

Along a peaceful shore

Come, Holy Spirit, breathe that peace

That victory make me win

Then shall my soul it’s conflict cease

And find a heaven within

(John B. Dykes)
