Mystery in Intimacy and Rest
There is rest in letting go and leaning into the mystery of intimacy with God.
Intimacy with God? What a profound concept that is in and of itself.
In intimacy the line between where I end and another begins nearly ceases to exist. This is a mystery and wonder. How wondrous it is that the Creator of all things invites this type of mysterious connection with mere humans, with me.
Intimacy with God is to know God.
This is a knowledge that goes beyond facts and doctrine and dogma and leans into the experience of the presence and power of God.
Intimacy with God brings a sense of peace when circumstances say there should be none.
The mystics describe knowing God as union with God. This can be simply practicing the presence of God or entering into mystical and supernatural experiences with the Divine.
Intimacy with God goes beyond religion and institutional identification to deep interior transformation that defies and transcends limitations often perceived or defined by religious institutions.
This is the mystery and rest and wonder I want to live in. Do you?
My favorite Christian mystic is St. Teresa of Avila. She says that, “The closer one approaches to God, the simpler one becomes.”
What would it look like for you to approach God without reservation?
What limitations or barriers are keeping you from intimacy with God? What lies need to be replaced with truth in order for you to draw nearer?
Do you desire deep interior transformation, peace, and rest?
I don’t pretend to know or understand all this, but oh, how I want to
Let go.
Lean in.
Draw close.
There is a place of quiet rest . . .
Near to the heart of God.
