The Middle of the Story (Songs that Speak series)

I ran across this song I wrote and recorded in April 2020 and it reminds me of the reflections I posted last week, Scoreboard as Pulpit. Remember how the score in the middle of the game doesn’t determine whether you win or lose? In the same way, the conflict or uncertainty or drama in the middle of the book does not determine how the story ends. We are all living in the middle of the story of our lives and there is freedom and hope as we embrace whatever comes our way. There is beauty in the middle of the mess and the mystery. The lyrics of this song still ring as true to me today as they did when I wrote them a year and a half ago. I also see how far I have come. I believe these words with more conviction and hope than I did when I first penned them.

Whatever characterizes the chapter of life you are currently in, may you find peace knowing that the story is not over and the best is yet to come!

Check out the song on Tam’s youtube channel below (and subscribe!) and let’s chat in the comments about what you do to stay the course when life enters into the realm of the unexpected and unknown.

THE MIDDLE OF THE STORY

Where there story begins is not where it ends

There’s a beautiful mess in between

It’s not what I planned

It feels out my hands

The beautiful mess of my story

I’m living life in the middle of the story

And I don’t know how it ends

Tragedy or happily ever after

From where I am

I can’t see the next chapter

But I’ve got to believe

That someday I’ll be free

From the uncertainty

of the middle of the story
